Have you ever found yourself so wrapped up in fixing your own life that you forget to ask God for help? If you’ve ever thought, “God, I got this,” only to realize later that you really didn’t, this message is for you. The Friday night sermon from March 14, 2025, is a powerful reminder that we only have one job and that job is to let God drive.
Many of us try to be in control. We want to fix our problems, figure out our relationships, or build our dreams. But as the message showed, when we take the wheel and leave God out, we end up anxious, exhausted, and disappointed.
Letting Go of Control
Control is one of the most tempting idols in modern life. Whether it is through schedules, routines, planning apps, or just trying to hold everything together, we often act as if we are the ones holding the universe up. But the reality is we are not God
and trying to be only leaves us burnt out.
The message from this service started by asking a critical question: What areas of your life are you still trying to control? Is it your marriage? Your career? Your children? Your finances? Your health? God is not asking you to fix everything. He is asking you to trust Him.
This is not about passivity or laziness. It is about surrender. It is about letting go of the illusion that we can manage it all and embracing the truth that we were never meant to. God does not need co-pilots. He needs passengers who are willing to trust Him with the wheel.
Surrendered Living
One of the most trending themes in Christian circles today is the idea of “surrendered living.” It is popular for a reason because so many of us are tired. We are tired of striving, of pretending, of trying to do life in our own strength. We were not designed to carry the burdens we often bear alone.
Surrendered living is not weakness. It is wisdom. It is the realization that the most powerful thing you can do is place your life fully in the hands of the One who created it.
The sermon referenced Proverbs 3:5-6: Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” It is a familiar verse, but one we often skip in practice. Trusting God with all your heart” means holding nothing back not your pain, your future, your kids, your goals. Nothing.
The Power of Faith in the Storm
One of the most touching parts of the message was the reminder that God is not only the God of the mountaintops but also the God of the valleys. It is easy to trust God when life is good. But the true test of faith comes when things feel chaotic or when prayers seem unanswered.
The speaker encouraged everyone to think back on a time when God came through when you were desperate, when you prayed, and He showed up. That memory is fuel for today’s faith. Gratitude builds trust. Remembering His faithfulness helps us release control.
Faith is not ignoring your problems. It is believing God is greater than them.
Spiritual Breakthrough
We are all longing for breakthrough. Whether it is healing in relationships, freedom from anxiety, or clarity in our purpose, breakthrough is a trending prayer for believers everywhere. But often, the key to breakthrough is surrender.
In the sermon, it was said clearly: You cannot have breakthrough if you are still holding the wheel. God wants full access. That means giving Him control not just on Sunday, but on Monday morning, on Wednesday night, and in every decision in between.
Spiritual breakthrough happens when we stop striving and start trusting. When we stop managing and start surrendering. That is when peace enters. That is when clarity comes. That is when God moves.
Letting God Take the Lead
God is not asking us to know the whole plan. He is asking us to follow. That is what it means to let Him lead. It may look like delayed answers, unexpected turns, or a slower pace than we like. But when He leads, we end up in the right place, at the right time, with the right people.
The sermon reminded us that obedience is greater than understanding. Sometimes we will not know why God says no. We will not always understand His timing. But when we choose obedience, we are saying, “God, I trust You more than I trust myself.”
Biblical Wisdom
There is so much noise in our world today. Podcasts, influencers, social feeds all offering opinions on how to live your best life. But as believers, our wisdom comes from a different source. It comes from the Word of God.
This sermon brought everyone back to the basics: Read your Bible. Pray daily. Seek wise counsel. Keep your eyes on Jesus. The Bible is not just an ancient book. It is the ultimate guide for surrendered living. It shows us that God’s way is always better, even when it is harder.
Biblical wisdom helps us discern truth from noise, direction from distraction, and purpose from pressure.
Christian Community
Finally, the sermon closed with a strong emphasis on community. You cannot surrender your life to God and walk it out alone. We need people to pray with us, speak truth over us, and call us higher when we forget who we are.
The church is not a social club or an event. It is a family. It is a training ground for faith. It is where surrendered hearts come together and remind each other that we are not alone.
If you have been distant from community, this is your invitation to return. Come back. Plug in. Let others carry your burdens when you cannot. And be ready to carry theirs too.
